Juicy Watermelon

There is nothing like cold watermelon on a hot summer day. Watermelon is a family favorite in our home, sliced or juiced! I use my ninja blender to juice a watermelon every week.

I especially love watermelon to re-hydrate after a long summer run or ride.

We all know watermelon is packed with sweetness but did you know its also 91% water, and low in calories?

Watermelon is packed with vitamins and minerals

· Vitamin C

· Vitamin A

· Vitamin B5

· Copper

· Potassium

In research, watermelon has shown to:

· Reduce muscle soreness after physical activity. This is due to the amino acid Citrulline.

· Lower Blood Pressure

· Improve Metabolic Health

· Improves Heart Health

· Great for hydration

· Curbs your risk of cancer and diabetes because it contains the antioxidant Lycopene

Juice Recipe:

Cut and cube 1/2 a seedless watermelon and place it in the blender. Add 1-2 tablespoons of honey, 1 dash of salt and 3/4 to 1 cup of water. Blend. Pour it into your favorite container and chill in the fridge. As an option, you can always squeeze a lemon in for an extra kick.
