3 Must Read Books for Health, Nutrition and Life
As a coach I am all about encouraging, motivating, and equipping my clients with
wisdom. I have a few books that I’d like to recommend if you’re looking for a more insight on nutrition, whole foods, and a positive life change.
If you took just 1% of the wisdom one of these books shares and applied it to your life, you would experience massive change!
Let me give you a quick walk through on each book and why I feel they are extremely worthy reads.
Rich Roll in "Finding Ultra"
I found "Finding Ultra" extremely motivating, informative, exciting, and inspirational. This book has motivated me to set loftier goals, dial in my nutrition, and improve on my athletic adventure. I particularly like Rich Roll. I participated in a fitness event with him and it made me want to read his book. He candidly shares about his habits and hang ups. He is a remarkable human being, very candid and refreshing.
The cover is a great warm up "Rejecting middle age, becoming one of the worlds fittest men, and discovering myself." If any of these words resonate with you, this is a must read! Rich Roll describes overcoming adversity at midlife, racing an Ultraman in his 40's, his transition into a “Plant Based” lifestyle, and goal setting. He includes a large section of the back of the book to describe in detail step-by-step directions and recipes to a Plant Based Lifestyle.
Harvey Diamond in "Fit for Life"
I was first introduced to this book through Jesse Itzler’s “Build Your Life Resume” coaching program I participated in. Jesse spoke so much on fruit, water, and Harvey Diamond that it piqued my interest. I had to read the book. I am so glad I did! This book has changed my life and opened my eyes to eating more fruits, vegetables, and water consumption. This book contains an endless amount of guidance on how to dial in your health & nutrition. Harvey Diamond opens your eyes to how your body works, how to lose weight and increase energy. He also gives a complete menu, recipes, and shopping list so you can walk out the wisdom he shares. I was in AWE after reading his book and I have implemented so much of his wisdom into my nutrition habits.
Stephen Guise in "Mini Habits"
My favorite motto as a coach is “Tweak Don’t Overhaul.” I see it so much with my clients. They try to implement so many new things at one time and it does not stick. This book does a great job explaining how to form and implement small habits into our daily routine one at a time.
“People gain weight in the same way that people successfully lose weight: small and seemingly insignificant lifestyle choices accumulate over time into bigger changes. No matter what those “fast weight loss” books tell you, real change doesn’t happen from a huge and sudden shift in behavior.”
~ Stephen Guise
Stephens book is all about real life change, healthy habits, and changing your thoughts. He does all this and so much more with no restrictions, but by tweaking, not overhauling. This book will change your life!
Not a reader? I can relate.
I didn’t enjoy reading for much of my life and now I can be found with a book in my hand quite often. You know how I became a reader? A mini habit of the seven-page rule. I committed to reading seven pages of my book every night. From there, I grew into someone who loves to read. I hope you choose to take time for yourself and read one or all these amazing books! Just start.
Let me know your thoughts and please share one of your favorites with me.
